Right after the end of the final exams, just before summer , we as Sports Committee organize one of the biggest beach festivals in İstanbul.The event lasts for a week and in the first 6 days the sportsmen are trained and briefed very detailed, and after this period on the last day the races start. The carnival is held in the Kilyos – Saritepe Campus of Bogazici University. Although Surfboat Carnival is a new event compared to SportsFest and Snowbreak, the expectations of the participants were definetely fulfilled.

The main instrument in the event is a part of the Australian culture ‘Surfboat’. This boat contains 4 rowers and 1 sweep, and requires full concentration of the sportsmen. In addition to this, we organize 2 other races in the sea for other disciplines, and they are called Surfboard and Surfski. Both of them is a individual type of sports but in order to learn how to maintain your balance you need some company in the beginning.

All these 3 types of sports which requires the sea are part of the Australian culture, and  in addition to these disciplines we have some other races which only needs some sand. They are called ‘the beach games’ and have a huge part in the carnival. They may look like fun and free time activities but all of them need high physical fitness and concentration. The beach games contain beach relay, beach sprint and chariot race.
