Field Day, which is the first track and field event in Turkey, has begun with competitions held in the campus and has a history which dates back to 1898. The Athletics Association which was founded in 1896 in Boğaziçi University, has organized the first Field Day in 1898. Competitions took place in the South Campus which has the name Üstün Ergüder Square now. From that day forward, Field Day was organized every year and brought together professional and amateur athletes across our country. Today it is one of the biggest Track and Field competitions of Turkey.
Every branch of track and field competitions takes place in Field Day with the participation of many universities in Turkey. About 200 athletes compete in different branches such as running, hurdling, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, long jump, high jump and triple jump for two days. Amateur competitions also held on in these two days. Field day provides professional athletes with a competition environment of high quality which they can test themselves. It also aims to stimulate amateur athletes and promote Track & Field in Turkey. Field Day creates a sportive environment and brings together athletes across Turkey in a spirit of competitiveness and friendship.
